We went on a Walking tour in Barcelona a few weeks ago. Our tour guide Carlos really knows and loves his city of birth. He showed us many cool places that we wouldn't find by our self. We enjoyed walking through La Rambla and the Gothic district. There was delicious fresh fruit juices in the Boqeria marketplace. Barcelona cathedral and churches was also very nice. I think this Barcelona city tour was excellent and it wasn't even expensive!

You will start your Barcelona city tour by walking through the Gothic Quarter. This is the oldest part of Barcelona, built upon the Roman settlement of Barcino. As your tour guide will show you, there still exist many remains from the Roman period, such as the Roman walls and the Roman baths of Pati Llimona. During medieval times, Barcelona was the capital city of the powerful Kingdom of Aragon. This period was marked by Gothic architecture, which still dominates this part of the city. Follow your tour guide as they lead you through the narrow streets and charming alleys that resemble a labyrinth.
LAS RAMBLAS – BARCELONA ARTERRY

Barcino - The Roman Prequel to Barcelona
On this guided tour, you will have a chance to walk through the 2,000 years of rich history of Barcelona. Although the area was settled since prehistoric times, the founding of Barcelona dates back to Roman times (1st century BC). It was emperor Augustus who established it as a colony for his army veterans. The full name of the settlement was Iulia Augusta Faventia Paterna Barcino, but it was most commonly known as Barcino. The center of this new colony was located right on top of what is today Plaça de Sant Jaume. Its geographical position was also favorable, as it stood between two other prosperous cities, Emporiae and Tàrraco. The settlement experienced rapid growth and even became an imperial city with fortified walls. As for the layout of Barcino, it was typical for any Roman city. This means it had a forum in the middle and two main streets, Cardus and Decumanus. On the walking tour of Barcelona, you will see the remains of Barcino, such as the columns of the Temple of Augustus, parts of the Roman walls, and harbor baths.
