About Picasso Museum Barcelona Tickets
Visit one of the first museums dedicated to Pablo Picasso, showcasing over 4,200 works of art. This museum opened in 1963 and was one of the first and largest dedicated to Picasso's work. Skip the ticket line and learn about Picasso's legacy and influence on the modernist movement from an expert tour guide. Start chronologically with his early works and continue with the Blue Period, cubist masterpieces, the Las Meninas series, and ceramic sculptures.
With a tour guide by your side and a skip-the-line ticket, learn about Picasso's early works like 'Science and Charity', his pigeon fascination, and the importance of the Els Quatre Gats.
Your main goal is Picasso's artworks, but the museum's unique setting will also be a reason for your return! The Picasso Museum is spread across five medieval palaces dating from the 13th to 15th century.
After the death of a friend in 1901, Pablo Picasso started a new style characterized by somber, monochromatic paintings. The works from that period show his emotional state and focus on human suffering and poverty. One story behind Picasso's use of blue is that he was living in poverty as well and couldn't afford a variety of colors.
Witness Picasso's artistic evolution through this chronological exhibition. Follow every Picasso's brushstroke, starting with the classical style and continuing to the cubist pioneer! See his reinterpretation of Velazquez's 'Las Meninas', a cubism work of art and a museum highlight consisting of 58 separate paintings.
Besides visiting the Picasso Museum, this ticket also grants access to several other museums, including the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art, Fundació Antoni Tàpies, Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya, and Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona.

I loved the Picasso Museum in Barcelona! As an artist myself, I draw inspiration from everywhere, but Picasso was and still is my most beloved artist! Since this entry ticket included a guided tour, I discovered some fascinating facts that I was unaware of before. It was a super inspirational visit, and I highly suggest everyone visit!
I honestly didn’t know much about Picasso before, but this tour was so informative and kept my attention throughout the visit. What’s even more important, my kids loved it, too! Our favorites were the colorful paintings made in his later years, especially the Las Meninas composition series. They are so unique and different!

The birthplace of modernism: Els Quatre Gats
Have you ever heard of Els Quatre Gats or simplified “4 Gats?” This cafe opened in 1897 and became a main gathering spot for artists, writers, and intellectuals. It was a center of creativity and innovation founded by Pere Romeu, a charismatic visionary who financially supported artists. Among them was a young Pablo Picasso, who held his first solo exhibition at the café in 1900. At just 17 years old, Picasso established himself as a rising star in the art world, marking the beginning of his rich career.
The 4 Gats hosted many art exhibitions, poetry readings, and musical performances. It also had a journal, "Pel & Ploma," which soon became a voice for the modernist movement in Barcelona.
Unfortunately, Els Quatre Gats closed in 1903, but after several transformations, it was restored to its original glory. Don’t miss it while you are in Barcelona!
